Epithets
This is a list of certain Penglai Epithets that are traditionally used, along with their meanings.
- Appropriate
- Something that is in the place it should be, morally and physically, and is in good working order
- August
- Of high-born blood
- Beryl
- Incorruptible
- Bronze
- Liable to 'rust' and decay
- Brown
- Used only of foreigners, and correctly, only of Amberites.
- Cloud
- At the Ruling Level - ie, a Cloud Castle is a castle used for high-level administration
- Honourable
- Ritual word of compliment used when others might be taken as a statement of position
- Improper
- The antonym of Appropriate. Even one part of the whole out of order can make something improper
- Loyal
- An insult for one of Rank, as they are assumed to be Loyal. A compliment to one aspiring to Rank
- Lucky
- Within the Realm of the Empire of Penglai
- Scholarly
- One who has passed all necessary exams to begin the path of promotion
- Warm
- one of the many cardinal elements that make up a person. They may be 'cool watery pig', for example.
Clothing
Because Penglai never wastes anything, the same style of thinking applies to clothing, temple decoration, and the like. In Penglai, a picture is a thousand words.
