Penglai
Penglai is the equivalent of the Chinese Empire at any of its great heights, and all of them. Keep in mind Fu Manchu, Wire-effect Fighting, and Flashman and the Dragon.
Jade
Jade is something like Tokugawa-era Japan, some time before the guns arrived. For atmosphere, D'Shai and The Hours of the Octopus by Joel Rosenburg work well.
Steppelands
The Steppes are inspired in part by Mongolia and the Khans. Wide open spaces, horses, felt tents.
